Abstract
Study summary:
The current study aimed to reveal the level of psychological stress among
learners involved in private lessons, and the study also sought to reveal the
significance of the differences according to the following categorical variables:
gender, specialization, class of study (“teaching” – “non-teaching”), and the
level . The study questions were asked as follows:
1 What is the level of psychological stress among students involved in private
lessons? .
2 Are there statistically significant differences in the level of psychological
stress among students involved in private lessons, according to gender? .
3 Are there statistically significant differences in the level of psychological
stress among students involved in private lessons, according to specialization? .
4 - Are there statistically significant differences in the level of psychological
stress among students involved in private lessons, according to the
characteristics of the study (teacher(s) / non-teaching ones)? .
5 - Are there statistically significant differences in the level of psychological
stress among students involved in private lessons according to the different
academic level {first year secondary / second / third}? .
The hypotheses of the study were the following:
The learners undergoing private tutoring for secondary education suffer from
high psychological pressure. There are statistically significant differences in the
level of psychological stress among learners involved in private lessons with
respect to the gender variable.
There are statistically significant differences in the level of psychological stress
among learners involved in private lessons with respect to the variable of
specialization.
- There are statistically significant differences in the level of psychological
stress among the learners involved in private lessons with respect to the study
attribute variable {teacher(e)/non-teaching(e)}? .
- There are statistically significant differences in the level of psychological
stress among learners involved in private lessons in relation to the variable of
academic level {first year secondary / second / third}? .
In order to answer these questions, the two students adopted the descriptive
approach of such studies. To achieve the objectives of the study, the
psychological stress scale was used, which was applied to a sample of secondary
level students (first year secondary / second / third year), which amounted to 60
students (30 males in Zarwaq high school - 30 females in Fakhar High School).
The results were as follows:
1- The level of psychological stress among females, the category of teaching
assistants, the Languages Division, and the third year of high school was
determined. The results were interpreted based on the theoretical framework and
previous studies, and at the end of the study, research prospects on the subject
were suggested.
