Abstract

Liquidity management in banks is considered the greatest challenge facing the banking business due to the difficulty of reconciling the liquidity requirements that must be maintained, and considerations of the profitability that is hoped to be achieved by reducing the risks that occur as a result of a liquidity deficit or surplus. With the aim of identifying how to manage liquidity risk and the mechanisms used by commercial banks, where the case study was at the level of the Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Waterways Agency, we followed the descriptive approach in the theoretical aspect, and the analytical approach in the applied aspect, and we concluded that commercial banks rely primarily on The ability and efficiency of these departments to avoid the risks to which they may be exposed. Liquidity is an important indicator for the bank as it is the primary driver of the bank’s work and the bank must deal vigilantly with liquidity to take into account security and continuity. Liquidity management in the bank also focuses on managing the treasury as it is the seat of cash and storage of funds.
