Abstract
Study summary
The study aimed to identify the psychological characteristics of students with autism spectrum disorder through their response to the projective test (understanding the topic for children), and based on the key words of the study (autism spectrum disorder, psychological characteristics: fears and aggression, students with autism spectrum disorder), the problem of the study was identified with the following general question:
What are the psychological characteristics of students with autism spectrum disorder according to their responses to the subject understanding test?
Partial questions are derived from it, which were extracted from the most important psychological characteristics studied by the test:
Do students with autism spectrum disorder suffer from aggression?
Do students with autism spectrum disorder suffer from fears?
The study included a research group consisting of four cases of students with autism spectrum disorder, two females and two males, relying on the clinical approach based on the case study. The projective subject understanding test was also applied to T.A. children. C, relying on the Monika-Boekholt correction method to reveal the nature of the psychological characteristics of students on the autism spectrum. The semi-directed interview was used in order to collect the greatest amount of information about the cases, in addition to the autism spectrum diagnostic test and its CARS score to determine the degree of autism that allows the application of the topic understanding test for children.
We found that the general hypothesis, which states that students with autism spectrum disorder have psychological characteristics, was verified, and the first partial hypothesis, which states that students with autism spectrum disorder suffer from fears, was verified through their responses to the children’s understanding of the subject test. The second hypothesis was verified, which states that students on the autism spectrum suffer from aggression.
