Abstract
This study aims to identify the indicators of excellence among gifted students at the middle school level, as perceived by teachers. It also explores potential differences in the ranking of these indicators and the characteristics and behaviors of high-achieving students as observed in the classroom. Furthermore, the study investigates statistically significant differences in the perception of these indicators based on the teacher’s gender (male/female) and years of experience (less than 5 years, 6 to 15 years, more than 16 years).
The descriptive method was adopted, and a specific scale was developed starting with an open-ended questionnaire for the exploratory study, followed by a structured questionnaire applied to a purposive sample of 86 teachers in four middle school institutions in Médéa Province and El Ammaria. Statistical tools such as means, standard deviations, and the T-test were used to analyze the results.
The findings revealed differences in the ranking of excellence indicators, but no statistically significant differences based on gender or years of experience, suggesting a shared perspective among teachers regarding the behaviors of high-achieving students.
