Abstract
The central lesson of general relativity is the fact that mass produces spacetime curvature. As an example,
the static spherical mass of the Sun produces outside it a Schwarzschild geometry. Moreover, mass in
nonspherical, nonuniform motion can generate gravitational waves, whaich are ripples of curved spacetime,
they which propagate at the speed of light, they are transverse waves have two independent polarizations,
and can be detected by their e¤ect on the relative motion of test masses, but their weak coupling to matter
makes theme so di¢ cult to be detected.; they also carry energy and have an angular momentume.[14]
detect is also what makes them so interesting astrophysically. Once produced,
There are many important sources of gravitational waves in the univers binary star systems, supernova
30explosions, collapse to black holes, and the big bang are all examples. Gravitational waves provide a
window for exploring these astronomical phenomena
In this work we derived two important solutions of the gravitational …eld equations, the shwarzchils
metric which describe the …eld produced by spherically symetric sorces, then we moved to investigate
the linearized Einstein …eld equations, from which we derived the transverse tracless wave solution in
order to build a bridge between theory and experiment. We studied the …rst gravitational wave detection
experiment, which is important as a test for general relativity as well as a con…rmation of the existence of
the black hole binary systems and the coalescence phenomena arising between them.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Nobel Prize in Physics 2017 with
one half to Rainer Weiss, Barry C. Barish and Kip S. Thorne[15], Together they have realised a vision that
is almost …fty years old. The 2017 Nobel Laureates have, with their enthusiasm and determination, each
been invaluable to the success of LIGO
