Abstract
This thesis aims to study the determinants of supply and demand for urban transport service.
The mandate of Medea was chosen as the basis for application in order to build two standard
models for the equations of supply and demand for urban transport service, which were divided
into two main parts. The first part includes three chapters, the first chapter deals with the theoretical
framework of transport, then the second chapter includes the economics of supply and demand for
urban transport, In chapter three, we talked about urban transport in Algeria, The second part
included the application side of the research topic where the supply and demand functions of the
urban transport service in the governorate of Medea were formed.
The study concluded a number of conclusions, the most important of which are: the average
expenditure on trips is the first determinant in the demand for urban transport (the total number of
daily trips) followed by the number of family members who use means of transport, the average
expenditure, the duration of arrival to the destination, Then to a lesser extent age, vehicle
ownership, and gender, and The linear regression model also represents the relationship between
the demand for urban transport services and the most important factors affecting it.
It was also found that the number of vehicles is the first determinant in the offer of urban
transport services (number of seats offered to passengers) followed by the long distance, revenue,
ownership of the vehicle, and the non-linear multiple regression model represents the relationship
between the supply of urban transport services and the most important factors affecting it.
