Abstract

This study aimed to shed light on the role of governance in enhancing the actuarial expert profession in insurance companies, by examining the reality of the actuarial expert profession in insurance companies and highlighting the impact of insurance company governance on improving the actuarial profession, which is mainly represented in pricing insurance products, assessing future risks, and evaluating the financial situation. For insurance companies, with an attempt to diagnose the practical reality of the actual practice of governance in insurance companies. By doing so and In order to answer the problem of the study, the theoretical framework of governance, its mechanisms, determinants, and principles was studied, in addition to the various international models of governance. The theoretical framework of actuarial expertise and the most important professional standards and guidelines for actuarial expertise were also addressed. For the purpose of strengthening the theoretical framework of this study, a questionnaire was distributed. A group of professionals and academics for the purpose of knowing the extent of the impact of governance principles on improving the actuarial profession, and knowing the relationship between both the proper application of governance principles and the actuarial profession. The study concluded with a set of important results, the most prominent of which is the presence of a statistically significant effect between governance principles and the quality of the actuarial profession within insurance companies.
