Abstract

This study aimed to determine the nature of the relationship between monetary and fiscal policies and the effects of the economic cycle in Algeria during the period (1990-2016), depending on descriptive analytical approach and the experimental approach, the research was divided into four chapters, two of which were devoted to the presentation of the economic literature of monetary and fiscal policies, as well as economic cycles and their main implications, unemployment, inflation and stagflation, the third chapter was devoted to analyzing the variables, while the fourth chapter was devoted to applied study using econometric methodology. When using the ARDL approach, we found that there is a cointegration between the variables in the case of unemployment rate as a dependent variable, as well in the case of price index as a dependent variable. صخللما IV The study concluded that the effectiveness of fiscal policy on the price index through real public expenditure is greater than the effectiveness of monetary policy, which shows that inflation in Algeria is not purely monetary inflation, but due to structural reasons. In contrast, the effectiveness of monetary policy on the unemployment rate through the money supply is greater than the effectiveness of fiscal policy. Based on these results, the economic authorities must work to coordinate between economic policies in a manner that allows the creation of jobs, as well as correction of structural imbalances, which gives greater possibility to control the level of inflation.
