Abstract
Learning a foreign language has become a complex task in the field of linguistic
studies. Scholars and researchers have continuously been trying to simplify this
operation by investigating the different efficient factors that influence students’
attitudes towards the process of learning a foreign language. Sociocultural
factors can be the most influential elements that have a considerable impact on
the EFL learning process. In the present study, an attempt was accomplished to
explore the extent of sociocultural factors on the learning process of English
students in the Algerian context, such as social factors, educational factors, and
cultural factors. For this purpose, a case study was conducted at Almaahed Pro
International Company as a private school in Medea, and the research was based
on qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. The procedure relied on
questionnaires directed to both students and teachers of Almaahad, and they
were asked to answer the questionnaires depending on personal experiences
about the influence of sociocultural factors on the learning process of English in
Algeria. The findings of this study confirmed the validity of social, educational
and cultural factors impact on the operation of the learning process in the EFL
classrooms in Algeria.
