The effectiveness of implementing educational games in EFL classroom to enhance listening and speaking skills (case study of fourth year middle school)

Abstract

In light of the importance of speaking and listening as being basic skills that play a vital role in enhancing students ‘language learning, this investigation sheds light on demonstrating the role of educational games in fostering English as a foreign language learners’ speaking and listening skills. Hence, the study was conducted on 29 EFL learners and 4 teachers at Fodil skneder and Bou Attou Abdelkader middle schools. Accordingly, Qualitative and quantitative methods were adopted for this study. In addition, the data collection tools used in this study include a questionnaire given to both teachers and pupils. The research results show a significant amelioration in the competence of oral communication due to the incorporation of educational games into the speaking and listening sessions Teaching speaking and listening using such new modalities such as games appears to have a positive effect and better learning outcomes as well as a good impact on pupils.
