Abstract
This work is part of the research on medicinal plants and aims at the extraction and valorization of essential oils obtained from three plants: thyme, rosemary and fennel, as well as the study of the synergistic effect of mixture obtained from them and subsequently the development of a Para pharmaceutical product in the form of antibacterial moisturizing cream.
The physico-chemical indices were determined and analysis by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectroscopy made it possible to identify the chemical composition of each oil, in particular: estragole (28%) in fennel oil, thymol (86%) in thyme oil and camphor (78%) in rosemary oil.
The results of the antioxidant activity by the method of free radical trap by DPPH revealed promising results which vary according to the HE, EC50 values were obtained of 2.5mg/ml for thyme oil and 3.3mg/ml for rosemary oil. Antimicrobial tests of essential oils against bacterial and fungal strains have shown that these oils provide a good antimicrobial power, this activity has been improved by using a mixture of essential oils.
After the experimental formulation of the cream based on these oils, the product was subjected to biological tests, including an evaluation of the antimicrobial activity as well as the measurement of the acidity level, in order to guarantee its compatibility with dermatological and pharmaceutical standards
