Abstract
The present study, entitled "A Comparison of Digital Culture and Its Relation with Psychological Well-being and Life Satisfaction among University Students Who Use Social Media," aimed to examine the levels of the variable of digital comparison and the levels of the two variables (psychological well-being and life satisfaction) among university students. The descriptive correlational method was adopted due to its suitability to the study's subject.
To collect data, the following scales were applied: the Digital Comparison Scale developed by the two researchers, the Psychological Well-being Scale by Ryff (translated and adapted by Mouchmouch, 2022), and the Life Satisfaction Scale by Magdy Desouky (2013). The study sample consisted of 80 university students from Yahia Fares University in Medea, selected through comprehensive sampling. The researchers used the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS 23) to statistically analyze the study data and test the validity of the hypotheses.
The study yielded the following results:
1. There is a statistically significant negative correlation between the levels of digital comparison and the levels of psychological well-being and life satisfaction among university students.
2. University students exhibit high levels of digital comparison culture on social media.
3. There are significant differences in digital comparison scores among university students based on gender (male/female).
