Abstract
Summary
Many researchers in the field have addressed intellectual disability and its relation to academic difficulties in their studies, which prompted us to address the issue of writing errors among intellectually disabled individuals. This study aims to determine whether there are statistically significant differences in writing errors between integrated and non-integrated mildly intellectually disabled children aged 9 to 13 years through the application of the Bouzid Salha Writing Test. Our research question is posed as follows:
Are there differences in writing errors between integrated and non-integrated intellectually disabled children?
We adopted the comparative descriptive methodology that is appropriate for the study. The study was conducted on a sample selected purposefully, consisting of 12 cases (6 cases from the Psychological Pedagogical Center for Intellectually Disabled Children in Médéa and 6 cases of intellectually disabled children integrated into the primary school of Shaheed Mokhtar Zoubi in Médéa).
In this study, we relied on the Draw-A-Person Test to measure intelligence and confirm the intellectual disability of each case and the Bouzid Salha Writing Test.
After application, the results indicated that the hypothesis was not confirmed. Therefore, the research question can be answered as follows:
There are no statistically significant differences in writing errors among mildly intellectually disabled children between integrated and non-integrated children.
