Abstract

The thesis investigates the resistance patterns of bacterial strains isolated from urine cultures (ECBU) in both hospital and community settings in Ksar El Boukhari. The study focuses on understanding the prevalence and resistance profiles of common pathogens such as E. coli, Klebsiella, Candida, Streptococcus, Pseudomonas, Enterococcus, and Enterobacter. Data was collected from 738 urine cultures, including 673 negative cases and 65 positive cases. Among the positive cases, pathogens were identified: 39 cases of E. coli, 18 cases of Klebsiella, 2 cases of Candida, 3 cases of Streptococcus, 1 case each of Pseudomonas, Enterococcus, and Enterobacter. The study utilized tables, graphs, and pie charts to organize and visualize data by age and gender. The results showed that E. coli was the most prevalent pathogen (39 cases), followed by Klebsiella (18 cases). A detailed analysis revealed varying degrees of resistance and multiresistance among different bacterial strains. Charts and graphs depicted age and genderspecific distribution of infections, highlighting demographic trends in susceptibility. The findings underscore the complexity of antibiotic resistance among bacterial strains isolated from urine cultures at Medical Analysis Laboratory Dr.Haouari in Ksar El Boukhari. The study emphasizes the need for tailored antibiotic stewardship programs and infection control measures in both hospital and community settings to mitigate the spread of resistant pathogens
