Abstract
Summary
The Ottoman Sultanate knew from its inception until the ninth and tenth century progress in all fields due to its possession of military and political power represented in its sultans and their ability to conduct governance, which made it at the forefront of the countries of the world in the modern and contemporary era, and enabled it to control a large geographical area, and with the development that occurred in Europe, with the emergence of the industrial revolution and the colonial movement against the Islamic world, led to the emergence of several crises that greatly affected the Ottoman Sultanate, as this allowed foreign interference in its decisions and stirred up strife within it.
Several educational institutions appeared that follow Western systems, which brought out a class opposed to the rule and the ruler, and demanded to walk on Western European foundations and move away from everything that is traditional, and this led to a permanent conflict between the new class and the traditional class. All this contributed to the emergence of a new thought that called for freedom, autonomy, and the formation of entities New .
This change coincided with the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II 1876-1909 AD, who fought this ideology by returning to Islamic laws and trying to remove Western control in the affairs of the Sultanate, which increased the intensity of the conflict, especially after the emergence of the Association of Union and Progress, which was the beginning of the actual collapse of the Sultanate by controlling the affairs of the state and introducing it into many crises. .
All these crises awakened the national feeling of the Ottoman individual and the emergence of the personality of Kemal Atatürk, who changed the state system from the Sultanate system to the republican system, and thus ended a state that for more than 600 years of an Islamic nature abolished the caliphate and secularized the state.
