Abstract
Study summary:
The aim of this study is to find out the effect of working memory on the silent reading skills of a child with a medium degree of hearing disability, who are students in the middle first year stage. Out of 10 cases of children with hearing impairment (males and females)
They were chosen in an intentional way, from the school of young deaf ben Ashour Al-Blida and holders of bilateral hearing aids, and to verify the validity of the hypotheses, we studied the working memory systems according to the Baddley model, by highlighting three components in it, and accordingly the EDI intelligence test was applied, as well as relying on two items Only from the working memory test (central outlet, event buffer), as well as the phonological loop test, and finally a test to measure silent reading skills.
As for the results obtained, we have concluded that one of the components of working memory, which is (the phonological loop), has an effect on the silent reading skills of a child with hearing impairment, and there are no disturbances at the level of the central port and event buffer, and a significant weakness at the level of silent reading.
