Abstract
This thesis addresses a vital topic in the field of education: the role of training in improving professional competence among middle school teachers. It is situated within the broader context of educational reforms in Algeria and the challenges faced by teachers in their professional practice.
The central research question is: To what extent does training (in its types and methods) contribute to developing the professional competence of middle school teachers? The general hypothesis posits that training has a significant positive effect on improving teachers’ professional competence.
The research employs a descriptive and analytical approach, with a theoretical framework discussing various types of training (initial, continuous, and dual), training methods (lectures, workshops, seminars...), and the dimensions of professional competence (lesson management, interaction with students, use of ICT, commitment, and task performance).
The empirical part is based on a field study conducted on a sample of 43 teachers at Moussa Mohamed Middle School in El Amaria (Médéa province), using a questionnaire analyzed through statistical tools.
The findings highlight:
- A positive relationship between training and improved professional competence.
- Weakness in the follow-up and evaluation of training programs.
- The crucial role of continuous training in enhancing daily performance, though it remains underutilized.
The study recommends:
- Aligning training programs with the actual needs of teachers.
- Strengthening and regularly evaluating continuous training.
- Adopting modern pedagogical approaches that suit the real conditions of schools.
