Code-based Cryptography

Abstract

The first code-based cryptosystem was introduced in 1978 by McEliece, it is conjured to be post-quantum secure. In this thesis we present the McEliece cryptosystem, we start by introducing the fundamental terminology required for understanding the content that follows. Next, we delve into the definition and constraints of coding theory, as well as their role in general cryptographic systems. Finally, we focus specifically on the McEliece Cryptosystem, detailing how it employs Goppa codes and analyzing the security mechanisms that underpin this approach.
