Abstract
In this study titled "French Repressive Policy," we focused on the book "Muslim Algerians and France 1871-1919" by Charles-Robert Ageron. The study aimed to discuss the methods of French politics that aimed to eliminate Algerian identity and national character. We introduced the author's persona, Charles-Robert Ageron, and his book, which is the subject of our study. We then examined a series of repressive laws implemented by the French administration on Algerian society, including the Law of the Indigenous and Repressive Courts, and the Charles Jonnart Law. We highlighted their significant measures and their impact on Algerian society. Additionally, we discussed the manifestations and mechanisms of punishment in French politics, such as disciplinary committees, collective responsibility, detention, and financial penalties, which complemented the preceding exceptional laws
