Semiotic approach to multimodal discourse analysis on algerian political caricatures;context of" HARAK"

Abstract

The current research is a social semiotic analysis of the Algerian political caricatures that concern the recent demonstrations or EL Harak (2019-2020). As a matter of fact, it has been noticed that Algerians are conscious about the significant role of caricatures in conveying different ideologies, messages and intentions as well as portraying the different situations or problems occurring in society .Yet, Algerian people are unaware of some important notions related to caricatures. For instance, depicting the notion of culture identity in political caricatures of EL HARAK remains one of the unremarked phenomenon. Therefore, researchers decide to provide a social semiotic analysis of the Algerian political caricatures of El Harak so as to depict the Algerian culture identity.
