Inverter Control of The PV-Wind Hybrid System Grid-Connected by SRF Algorithm

Abstract

This work discusses the integration of hybrid renewable energy sources(HRES), solar photovoltaic (PV), and wind energy-based PMSG, into the power grid using a three-phase inverter controlled via the synchronous reference frame (SRF) approach. The use of renewable energy sources is becoming increasingly important to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate climate change. However, the intermittent nature of solar and wind energy sources poses challenges to grid stability and reliability. To address these challenges, the proposed system utilizes a control strategy that coordinates the energy output of the solar and wind sources and synchronizes it with the grid reference frame. This results in a stable power output that matches the grid frequency and voltage requirements. The control strategy is implemented using a synchronous reference frame control strategy that ensures a smooth transition between the grid-connected mode operation. The proposed system is evaluated through simulation tests using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The results demonstrate the effectiveness and reliability of the synchronous reference frame strategy and prove its ability to integrate successfully the hybrid renewable energy system into the electrical grid.
