Abstract

This study aims to highlight the role of the electronic payment system on the development of banking system through setting the global immediate clearing system of large amounts, and electronic clearing of large payments of clients during the period 2013-2018. This study tackles three chapters. The first and second chapters intended to cover the theoretical framework of the Algerian banking system and electronic payment system respectively using the analytic descriptive method. The last chapter is designed to an alyze and evaluate the Algerian electronic payment system using the annual report of the Bank of Algeria. Findings show that the electronic payment system in Algerian is still in the primary stage where the technology is archaic. Hence, the current payment tools are based on traditional methods.
