Abstract

Our search is about to identify the most important factors affecting on the value of the Algerian imports, viewing the importance of imports and its vital role that it plays in coverage of local demand in Algeria, after representing the theoretical side of foreign trade, and side theoretical side of imports, and identifying the most important factors affecting on the volume of imports, and the Algerian Foreign Trade by Imports between 1980-2012, eventually could achieve a standard pattern that illustrates the impact of all these factors combined on the volume of imports, and then use it to predict to be able to draw trade policy that fits the status of the Algerian economy. As results, according to standard pattern, we could figure out the huge Algerian imports, and that the following factors of GDP, exchange reserves, the price of oil, the coverage rate, affecting the Algerian imports, but they do not get affected by of rising foreign exchange and customs rights price, and this is due to the quality of the Algerian imports that are mostly Consumables , due the lack of the local industries that satisfy the needs of the Algerian local demand for these imported merchandise and services, as well as a result of the failure and weakness of the strategies used to compete.
