Abstract

Adaptation of borrowed words currently faces a significant funding gap, basically the morphological adaptation and its relation with some social factors. This study aims to provide an overview of the relationship between different social factors and the morphological adaptation of French borrowed words in Medea. Specifically, it investigates the determinants of morphological adaptation. In this context, a sample of 160 individuals is selected intentionally to participate in the visual test using PowerPoint and printed tools. The sample included different age categories, males and females, different educational levels, and different bilingualism backgrounds. The analysis of the visual test is based on the correlation test to determine the relationship between the different social factors and the morphological adaptation of French borrowed words. Findings show that gender, level of education, and level of bilingualism have a positive relationship with the morphological adaptation of French borrowed words. However, age has no significant relationship with the morphological adaptation of French words from the viewpoint of the study sample. The study concluded that females, old, highly educated, and active bilingual speakers tend to adopt French borrowed words without using one of the adaptation strategies
