A digital system twin is a virtual representation of a real system. In our work, we developed a digital twin for traffic light systems to simulate and optimize the congestion and the traffic on roads. The implementation of this digital twin is done via the internet of things IoT. We used the SysML language for modeling and the platform (Eclipse Ditto) for the creation of digital twins. We have developed an application that allows simulating, optimizing the traffic light system, and improving the movement of cars, and avoid wasting time by decreasing the waiting time on each intersection, due to our twin completely based on an adaptive algorithm to make our twin smarter in each time because it depends on a historical real datafr
