This thesis presents the development of an advanced energy management strategy for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) using Model Predictive Control (MPC) and Equivalent Consumption Minimization Strategy (ECMS). The work includes the modeling and design of a battery electric vehicle (BEV), followed by analyzing the impact of MPC and ECMS on fuel consumption and system performance. The models were implemented using MATLAB/Simulink with pre-built internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric motor (EM) maps. The results show that MPC and ECMS enhance energy efficiency and reduce consumption
