The Effectiveness of the Communicative Approach on Enhancing the Students’ Speaking Skill Case Study:

Abstract

The communicative approach has come to be the best and the most enjoyable approach in teaching the four skills of a foreign language, especially the speaking skill in English classes. The current study attempts to examine the effectiveness of CA on enhancing the speaking skill among L1 EFL students at YFU of Medea. It aims at investigating the extent of the effectiveness of utilizing CA in order to promote the ability of speaking. Besides, describing the various activities in which teachers must apply in speaking classes. For this purpose, a case study has been conducted on 20 students (L1), and 07 teachers of speaking in the English section. Quantitative and qualitative data have been collected through submitting a questionnaire for students and an interview for teachers. Therefore, the study findings revealed that the majority of teachers are using CA in teaching oral expression module, and it is considered as the best way to enhance the oral performance among L1 students, in the English section at YFU of Medea.
