Résumé: Extensive Reading has been receiving a great appreciation and recognition over the recent decades, thanks to the various publications showing its merits for both foreign and second language learners. Yet, it is still unexplored in Algeria. This research describes Extensive Reading influence in developing the vocabulary stock in English language that the Algerian students try to achieve. The lack of reading in English prevents the development of vocabulary growth. We, therefore, hypothesize that if students read extensively they would likely develop their vocabulary stock. The objective of delivering this study is to make a clear description of Extensive Reading at Yahia Fares University through conducting two questionnaires as statistical measure of interpreting data that helps us elicit students and teachers’ conceptions about the two main variables Extensive Reading and vocabulary growth. At the end, this study revealed that Extensive Reading is an effective way to improve vocabulary stock.
